Campers meet monthly on campus and complete labs designed by 鶹ýfaculty. 鶹ýstudents facilitate the labs by assisting with hands-on components like mixing and measuring, as well as helping the students understand science concepts.
During the day-long event, more than one hundred children can be found making things
like volcanoes and “gak” in hands-on labs facilitated by 鶹ýstudents and faculty.
Adventures in Science provides a fun atmosphere for younger students to experience
science, and gives 鶹ýstudents the opportunity to see science from an instructor’s
point of view.
Through Chapman’s efforts, 鶹ýis able to serve dual purposes with WEBS and Adventures
in Science. The programs benefit elementary students by providing a connection to
the future and aiding in career planning. At the same time, 鶹ýstudents get an
opportunity to serve as mentors for the younger students and pass their enthusiasm
on to a younger generation.
